Ορειβάτες — Adventure, Friendship and Faith, One Step at a Time
Adventure. Friendship. Faith.
One Step at a Time.
Every few months, we climb a new mountain together. Not literally — although we might do some hiking too. Our first mountain begins September 22.
12 weekly adventures. One mountain. One unforgettable journey.
There is a mountain ahead
And we’re going to climb it together.
Growing up isn’t always easy.
Children face pressure at school, changing friendships, difficult social environments and a world that often asks them to figure things out much too quickly.
We wanted to create somewhere different.
A place where children can laugh.
A place where they can make genuine friends.
A place where they can try something they have never done before.
A place where they can fail without embarrassment, succeed without comparison and discover that they are capable of more than they thought.
And most importantly, a place where they can experience the love of God not only as something they hear about on Sunday, but as something that becomes part of everyday life.
That place is Ορειβάτες.
Our first journey
Mount Fuji
The Mountain of Discovery
Every Ορειβάτες journey is represented by a mountain. Over twelve weekly adventures, children will cook, build, plant, create, solve problems, explore the world, learn practical skills and discover more about friendship, faith and themselves.
But there is another reason behind the activities. We want children to experience the joy of learning something new and saying:
“I can do this.”
After every adventure, each child receives a trail marker for their personal Mount Fuji journey. One adventure at a time, their mountain begins to fill. And after all twelve adventures? They reach the summit.
How your mountain map fills up
- 12Weekly adventures, one mountain
- 🗺️A personal journey map from day one
- 📍A trail marker earned after every adventure

The 12 Mount Fuji adventures
Twelve weeks. One trail. One mountain.
Each week is a new adventure — and a new trail marker for the journey map. Here’s what’s waiting on the way to the summit.
Trail Marker · Basecamp
01 — Welcome to Basecamp
Team Explorer · Where the adventure begins
Our first meeting is all about friendship, laughter and belonging. Through team games, introductions and fun cooperative challenges, children get to know one another and discover what it means to become part of the Ορειβάτες team.
Trail Marker · Rescue Mission
02 — Rescue Mission
Rescue Crew · Learn how to help when it matters
Children become a rescue team for the day and explore basic first aid, safety and helping skills through games and simple scenarios. They learn that staying calm, thinking clearly and helping someone else are skills anyone can begin developing.
Trail Marker · Grow Something
03 — Grow Something
Green Thumb · Small beginnings can become something beautiful
Every child plants something of their own. Along the way we explore patience, responsibility and what living things need in order to grow. And just like the plants, we’ll keep growing throughout our Mount Fuji journey too.
Trail Marker · Flight Challenge
04 — The Great Flight Challenge
Flight Crew · Design it. Build it. Fly it.
Today the room becomes an experimental aircraft workshop. Children design and build their own paper airplanes, test their creations and make improvements as they compete in a series of fun flying challenges. It’s creativity, engineering and experimentation — without anyone calling it a lesson.
Trail Marker · Make & Mend
05 — Make & Mend
Maker · Learn to make things with your own hands
Buttons fall off. Knots come undone. Things break. Today we learn that sometimes we can fix them ourselves. Children explore simple sewing, knots, crafting and repair skills while making something they can take home.
Trail Marker · €20 Challenge
06 — The €20 Challenge
Smart Shopper · Can you make good decisions when money is limited?
Every team gets a challenge and a budget. What would you buy? What do you actually need? What can you afford? Through a playful budgeting and shopping challenge, children begin learning how money works and why good choices matter.
Trail Marker · Chef Wars
07 — Chef Wars
Trail Chef · Aprons on. The kitchen is open.
Teams prepare a simple meal together while learning basic kitchen skills, food preparation, hygiene and teamwork. Then comes the best part: we eat what we made.
Trail Marker · Faith & Friendship
08 — Faith & Friendship Night
Faith Friend · What does a good friend look like?
An evening filled with games, music, creativity and conversation about the things that make friendships strong — kindness, forgiveness, loyalty, serving one another — and what the life of Jesus teaches us about loving the people around us.
Trail Marker · Bake-Off
09 — The Bake-Off
Baker · Measure. Mix. Bake. Enjoy.
Children discover the basics of baking while preparing bread, cookies or another delicious creation together. Following instructions, measuring carefully, sharing responsibilities and waiting patiently all become part of the challenge.
Trail Marker · Passport to the World
10 — Passport to the World
World Explorer · Tonight we’re going somewhere new
Every culture has something to discover. Through food, music, maps, stories, traditions and games, children experience another part of the world and learn that people who live differently share much more with us than we sometimes realize.
Trail Marker · Art Studio
11 — The Art Studio
Artist · Everyone sees the mountain differently
Paintbrushes come out and the club becomes an art studio. Children create their own interpretation of Mount Fuji and the journey they have experienced together. There is no single correct picture — creativity is part of the adventure.
Trail Marker · Fuji Festival
12 — The Fuji Festival — The Summit Celebration
Summit Award · Twelve adventures later, we’ve reached the top
The final meeting is a celebration of everything the children have experienced together — games, food, music, photos, artwork and every creation from throughout the journey. At the end of the evening, each child receives the Mount Fuji Summit Award: a reminder that something which once looked like a whole mountain was climbed one step at a time.

More than an after-school activity
Skills for life. Friendships for the journey.
We want children to leave Ορειβάτες with much more than a collection of badges. Over time, we want them to become young people who know how to…
Build genuine friendships
Learn what trust, kindness, forgiveness and encouragement look like.
Do practical things for themselves
Cook, create, repair, budget, grow things, solve problems and learn new skills.
Face challenges with confidence
Discover that difficult things often become possible when we approach them one step at a time.
Work with other people
Listen, cooperate, lead, follow and become someone others can depend on.
Care for others
Notice when someone needs help and develop the courage to act.
Grow in faith
Experience Christian faith as part of real friendships, decisions, service and everyday life.
Become examples for others
As children grow older, we want them to become people younger children can look up to.
Faith at Ορειβάτες
Faith that becomes part of everyday life.
Ορειβάτες is connected with the Apostolic Church of Thessaloniki and is built on Christian values. But our goal isn’t simply to add a Bible lesson to the end of an activity.
We want children to discover what following Jesus looks like in ordinary life.
- When you forgive a friend.
- When you help someone who is hurt.
- When you welcome someone who feels left out.
- When you keep going after something becomes difficult.
- When you serve instead of demanding to be served.
- When you discover that the person beside you matters.
Faith becomes something we live together.
Why Ορειβάτες?
Children have plenty of places
where they are expected to perform.
Ορειβάτες should feel different.
Everywhere else
- School asks them to achieve.
- Sports ask them to compete.
- The world constantly compares them with one another.
Here, at Ορειβάτες
- They can arrive as themselves.
- They can make friends.
- They can discover new abilities.
- They can ask questions.
- They can laugh loudly.
- They can try and fail.
- They can try again.
- They can belong.
And week after week, they can build a community of people they know, trust and grow alongside.
For parents
A place they will want to come back to.
We know that parents aren’t simply looking for another activity to fill an afternoon. You want to know…
- Who your children are spending time with.
- What they are learning.
- What values surround them.
- Whether they are safe.
- Whether those few hours every week are actually helping them grow.
Ορειβάτες has been created to provide children with a welcoming, supervised and Christ-centered community where fun and development belong together. The activities change every week, but the purpose remains the same:
Help children build friendships, confidence, practical skills, character and faith.
And because children aren’t the only ones who need community, we hope Ορειβάτες will become a place where parents get to know one another too.
What every mountain includes
- 🛡️A supervised, safe and consistent weekly setting
- ✝️A Christ-centered environment built on kindness and respect
- 👥Small, known groups led by trusted adult volunteers
- 📬Clear communication with parents throughout the journey
- 🎉A community celebration at the end of every mountain
Our purpose
Why Ορειβάτες exists
We believe children need more than information.
They need experiences.
They need friendships.
They need people they can trust.
They need opportunities to become capable.
They need somewhere they are known and accepted.
And they need a faith that can accompany them into ordinary life.
Our mission
Ορειβάτες helps children grow into resilient, capable and compassionate young people through adventure, practical skills, Christ-centered friendship and community.
Over several years, our hope is that every child develops the confidence to face life’s challenges, the practical ability to care for themselves and others, a secure community of Christian friendships and the character to become a positive example for the generation that follows them.
What we value
Seven things we build every mountain on.
Faith
Jesus is our guide. We want children to experience His love and learn what following Him looks like in everyday life.
Friendship
Nobody climbs a mountain alone. We build friendships based on trust, kindness, honesty and forgiveness.
Courage
Trying something new takes courage. So does admitting a mistake, asking for help and trying again.
Capability
Children are capable of far more than we sometimes allow them to discover.
Service
Our abilities become more meaningful when we use them to help somebody else.
Curiosity
There is always another skill to learn, another person to understand and another part of God's world to discover.
Perseverance
Some mountains are climbed quickly. Others take time. We keep moving.
The Ορειβάτες Code
An Ορειβάτης…
- Looks to Jesus.
- Tells the truth.
- Treats others with kindness.
- Helps when someone needs them.
- Has the courage to try.
- Learns from mistakes.
- Takes care of what has been entrusted to them.
- Never leaves another climber behind.
- And keeps moving toward the summit — one step at a time.
Our motto
One Step
at a Time.
Because no mountain is climbed in one giant leap.
You take one step. Then another. You learn. You fall. You get back up. You help the person beside you.
And eventually, something that once seemed impossible is beneath your feet. For Ορειβάτες, the summit isn’t about being better than everyone else. It’s about becoming more than you were when you started.
